Pathology Physician for Saginaw, MI (Locum)
Job Description
Ascension St. Mary's Hospital is looking for a full time locum to start September 30th! Temps will be approved!

- Coverage Location (Facility Name, City, State): Ascension St. Mary's Hospital, Saginaw, Michigan
- Practice Setting (Free-Standing Pathology Lab/Hospital-Based Pathology Lab):Â Hospital based
- Reason for Coverage: Gap in coverage, as other pathologist is leaving for another opportunity
- Dates of Coverage:Â Starting September 30th- ongoing while they recruit for a perm provider.Â
- Schedule (Shifts and Hours): Mon through Fri., 8:00am  - 5:00pm Â
- Call Schedule:Â Weekly (alternate week), start at Friday 5:00 pm, finish at next Friday 8:00am
- Call Ratio:Â every other week
- What Type(s) of Certification Does Your Laboratory Hold (CLIA, CAP, etc.)?CLIA
- Approx. Number of Cases Read Per Day:Â 35-50- volume will be split with 2 pathologistsÂ

- What Will Be the Locum Tenen Physician’s Responsibility for the Clinical Lab (Blood Bank, etc.)?Yes supervise clinical laboratory, need AP/CP certified pathologist
- Will the Locum Provider Be Responsible for Grossing Their Own Specimens? Yes
- Will the Locum Provider Be Cutting Their Own Frozen Sections on the Cryostat? Yes
- How Many Physicians in the Group? Only 1, typically 2
- How Many Histotechnologists? 4
- How Many Pathology Assistants? 0
- How Many Cytotechnologists? 0
- Will the Locum Tenens Physician be Required to Supervise Other Healthcare Providers? No
- Will Other Pathologists Be Present During the Locum's Coverage? Yes
- Type of Cryostat:Â Thermo Shandon
- Type of Microscope: Nikon
- Cytology Proficiency Exam Required for GYN Cytolology? No GYN cytology specimen
- Method of Preparation? Cytospin
- Required Anatomic Pathology Procedures: Surgical Pathology, GI Pathology, GU Pathology, Neuropathology, Dermatopathology, Hematopathology (Bone Marrow, Lymph Nodes) Interpretation of Bone Marrow Aspirate/bx, Cytology, Autopsy
- Required Clinical Pathology Procedures:Â Hematology, Microbiology, Chemistry/Serology, Blood Bank
- Board Certified/Truly Board Eligible
- MI license at time of submission
- Covid Vaccinated
- Minimum of 2 weeks per month availability
- Must be able to take call
