St. Peter’s Health Partners is seeking to recruit a full-time Outpatient Adult Psychiatrist on behalf of Ellis Hospital located in Schenectady, NY. The Ellis Psychiatry program has been helping people overcome mental illness for more than 50 years and offering specialized services for adults, children, and adolescents.

More than 150 years ago, the Religious Sisters of Mercy, Daughters of Charity, and local municipalities founded our hospitals, schools of nursing and health ministries in New York’s Capital Region. These groups were dedicated to improving the health of those living in their communities. About the Community:
The city of Schenectady, New York, located on the banks of the Mohawk River, is a small-but-modern city (population 65,000) that is part of the broader Capital Region (population 1.1 million)—which is known as the seat of New York State government, and also as a growing tech/innovation hub. Schenectady is approximately 15 miles from Albany and 150 miles from New York City.
Now entering its third decade of a major revitalization, the City of Schenectady retains and respects its heritage, which is seen in the preserved historic Stockade District bordering the Mohawk River, and throughout the city. Schenectady’s history has been synonymous with innovation: Thomas Edison, for instance, established his Edison Machine Works, later to become the General Electric Co., here in 1886. Most recently, the 60-acre, master-planned Mohawk Harbor community opened—integrating luxury living, retail, restaurants, an Ellis Medicine urgent and primary care location, and other offices along one mile of waterfront (the project also eased access to the Mohawk River with a new harbor).
The broader Capital Region, meanwhile, is the fourth largest metro area in New York State, behind New York City, Buffalo and Rochester. Comprised of the cities of Schenectady, Albany, Troy and Saratoga Springs, the Capital Region enjoy a stable economic setting, and is recognized as a dynamic region for economic growth.

Job Description
St. Peter’s Health Partners is seeking to recruit a full-time Outpatient Adult Psychiatrist on behalf of Ellis Hospital located in Schenectady, NY. The Ellis Psychiatry program has been helping people overcome mental illness for more than 50 years and offering specialized services for adults, children, and adolescents.
Job Description:
- The Psychiatrist will provide outpatient coverage for adult patients at the Outpatient Mental Health Clinic
- Position hours are Mon-Fri, 8 hour shifts;
- Call Rotation: Weekends – 1 weekend per month; Nights: Rotating Call
- Applicants should possess excellent clinical skills, communication skills, and a strong commitment to providing care that is team oriented
- Experienced candidates are preferred, but also accepting recent graduates working toward BC
- Not open to telemedicine
- Not accepting visa candidates
- Not accepting Locums candidates
- Starting Bonus (to be discussed at interview)
- Relocation Allowance, if applicable -- The amount is determined by the distance they are moving from to the facility. It is a reimbursement-based system. Providers receive the amount in their contract, and they can submit receipts for reimbursement up to that amount.
