Oncology/Hematology Physician Coos Bay, OR (Perm)

Job Description:
- Functions as a member of the clinical patient care team performing tasks and procedures consistent with the training and licensure of a Medical Oncologist/Hematologist
- Experience practicing Radiation Oncology with a strong record (or an excellent recent graduate)
- Demonstrated practice-building experience is preferred
- Possible leadership opportunity and the ability to build the practice
- Practice Setting: Outpatient at Free-Standing Cancer Center -Â BEAUTIFUL FACILITY!
- Reason for coverage: Physician retirement/relocations
- Most benign Hematology is referred out as we are focusing on getting new solid tumor diagnosis seen timely (within 1 week of referral).
- Demographics for this area are roughly 20% Hematology, 80% Oncology.
- Number of Physicians in Practice:Â 3 currently
- Will There be Radiation Oncologists Present? Yes
- How Many APPs Provide Coverage:Â 2 currently
- Average Number of Patients Per Day - OUTPATIENT (Clinic/Office):Â 10-15
- Average Number of Patients Per Day - HOSPITAL (Call/Rounding):Â Only when patients are admitted for inpatient chemo
- Trauma Level/Designation (Hospital):Â III
- Required Duties: participation on a Tumor Board, orders tests, orders images, prescribes
- Administration of Chemotherapy:Â by Physician
- Demonstrates the ability to use a personal computer and various software programs applicable to the position
- Demonstrates the ability to operate applicable office equipment
- Exhibits the ability to deal effectively interdepartmentally & with the public
- Exhibits the ability to maintain confidentiality, think and act independently with minimal supervision
- Maintains regular, consistent and punctual attendance at the assigned job location
- Demonstrates excellent written and oral communication skills
- Exercises good judgment, demonstrates effective problem solving and critical thinking skills

- Physical/Mental/Environmental Requirements
- Able to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently
- Possess physical agility and adequate reaction time to respond quickly and appropriately to unexpected patient care needs
- Needs adequate hearing and visual acuity, including adequate color vision
- Requires fine motor skills, adequate eye-hand coordination, and ability to grasp and handle objects
- Able to use proper body mechanics to assist patients in ambulating, transferring in and out of bed, chair or wheelchair
- Must use standard precautions due to threat of exposure to blood and bodily fluids
- Needs ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone
- Estimated Credentialing Timeframe:Â 6-8 weeks
