Wapiti Medical Staffing is currently seeking a Nurse Practitioner for Bemidji, MN and Grand Rapids, MN to assist Optum Serve with VA Disability exams.
Summary: Review pertinent medical history documentation and provide one-time, non-treatment compensation and pension exams for Veterans. The practitioner will capture responses during the exams through a web-based examination form: all documentation will be completed electronically. Completed exams are sent to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for disability award determinations. You will electronically document the exam findings required by the VA through the web portal based on questions presented in the disability benefits questionnaires and medical opinions requested by the Veterans Affairs Regional Office. The examiner does not make disability determinations. The United States Veterans Administration makes all disability determinations.
This role performs Disability Assessments on Veterans. You will not treat, and you will not prescribe medication in this position

Position Details
- Full Time schedule
- Bemidji - 2 days a week - Tuesday & Thursday 8am-4pm
- Grand Rapids - 3 days a week - Monday, Wednesday & Friday 9am-5pm
- Long term
- VA Exams
- approx.1-4 Exams per day
- EMR: Provider Portal (training provided)
- No nights, no holidays, no call, no weekends
Requirements
- MN License
- Local Provider
- NP License preferred, will accept PA license
- Master's Degree or successfully completed an approved Physician Assistant program
- Primary Care experience
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Good interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Ability to perform focused evaluations on all bodily systems.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Commitment to serve Veterans, including those with service animals.
