About the Facility
In 1880 The Sisters of Mercy founded Atlanta's first hospital. A century later, when the hospital moved out of the downtown area, Mercy Care was established to return to the city and care for Atlanta's homeless population. Initially a volunteer effort by the hospital's staff, Mercy Care has grown into a network of fixed sites and mobile clinics providing medical, dental, behavioral health and case management services for homeless, immigrant and other poor persons.
Saint Joseph's Health System provides seven care sites around Atlanta with five Mercy Care mobile units, as well as a senior facility in Rome.
As your medical home, Mercy Care offers comprehensive services that meet the majority of primary physical and mental health and wellness needs. Services are planned and delivered by a team that works together for your health. These services include primary medical care for adults and children, primary dental care, vision care, mental and behavioral health assessment and counseling, prescriptions, health screenings and health education.
